Faculty Services Guide: Interlibrary Loan & Reserves

A guide to services provided to the University of Richmond Law School faculty by the Muse Law Library and by other entities within the Law School.

Access Services for Faculty - ILL & Course Reserves

Access Services makes sure that materials you need for your classes and for your research are available.  In addition to retrieving and checking out materials to faculty from the Law Library's collection, Access Services borrows materials from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL); pulls materials from the collection for Course Reserves; and maintains the Exam Files of past exams for student study.

Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary Loan requests are handled through the ILLIad system:

  • Requests must be made through the system
  • Due dates are dependent on the lending library, not on what is requested
  • Entire books will be sent by mail and may take some time
  • Books are held at the circulation desk rather than put into the mailboxes
  • Pages from a book or an article will be fulfilled electronically
  • Faculty will be notified by automated email from the ILLIad system when their item has arrived
  • Requests that are fulfilled electronically (such as articles) will be delivered into your ILLIad account but should not be stored there, as there is only limited space and older requests will disappear when newer items come in; be sure to download your fulfilled requests

Contact Andrew Frank at afrank@richmond.edu or (804) 287-6555 for questions about Interlibrary Loan or the ILLIad system.

Course Reserves

Please notify the Circulation desk every semester with items you would like to put on reserve for your classes; you will receive multiple reminders and updates each semester.  Please respond to them promptly:

  • Textbooks as well as supplementary materials
  • The Library will purchase required readings for your class for the collection
  • Most study aids such as nutshells and hornbooks are already permanently on reserve

Contact Andrew Frank at afrank@richmond.edu or (804) 287-6555 for questions about Course Reserves or to place items on reserve.
