Africa, the Americas, and Europe all have regional human rights systems based in charters or conventions that include treaties, reporting structures and complaint methods. Below are "human rights" treaties from these regional bodies.
The European Social Charter is a Council of Europe treaty that guarantees fundamental social and economic rights as a counterpart to the European Convention on Human Rights, which refers to civil and political rights. It guarantees a broad range of everyday human rights related to employment, housing, health, education, social protection and welfare.
Another Council of Europe treaty, this is the first legally binding multilateral instrument devoted to the protection of national minorities worldwide, and its implementation is monitored by the only international committee dedicated exclusively to minority rights: the Advisory Committee. It was adopted on 10 November 1994 by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and was effective 1 February 1998.
